365 Raw: Day 58 with “Bananas”

Can you guys believe I’ve almost hit 60 days of raw?! Can you further believe that I’ve gone almost sixty days without doing a post about bananas? Me neither. I really like bananas. As you guys know, we go through a lot of them at our house (bought 16 bunches at one store alone last Friday). I had six of them today myself. So, I thought I’d list some things I like about bananas:

  • They are sweet.
  • They are filling.
  • They keep things running smooth (digestion).
  • They help me meet my caloric needs.
  • They are nutritious.
  • They are convenient.
  • They come in their own packaging.
  • They are in all the grocery stores around here.
  • They get better with age… to a point anyway lol.

I found a video by FoodnSport that talks about the Top 10 Health Benefits of Bananas. Check it out and see if you don’t fall in love with the benefits too. Another thing about bananas is that it is very important to eat them when they are ripe. This is the only frustrating thing for me where bananas are concerned. Sometimes we can only get them green, so I try to always have piles of bananas ripening in my house. I found another video about how to ripen bananas and tell when they are ready to eat. This proved very helpful.

In case you haven’t had your fill of banana talk today, here’s a banana recipe that is sure to put a smile on your face. Yes, we raw foodies have a good time with our food. My kids have often witnessed me doing a little jig while I’m blending or cutting up my food lol. I hope this encourages you to incorporate more bananas into your day.
