365 Raw: Day 51 with “Hair”

no pooI had a hair appointment today. I like the cut, I even like the color… what I don’t like is what color does to the texture of my hair. I only have it done about every 10 weeks, but it takes 6-8 weeks for me to like the texture again. This is frustrating for this “no poo” gal. So, it’s back to having a lot of static and being really “fine”. The color strips my hair, but I just haven’t been able to bring myself to accepting grey hair. I’m still in my 30’s, at least for a couple more years anyway. I really don’t want to be grey. I’m thinking about trying a henna color about five weeks or so in, just to see if it strips my hair too. I’m really close to just giving way to the grey.

On another “hair” front, I thought I’d talk about how I think the raw food is affecting my hair. It seems to be growing really fast. I also have a lot of “new” hair popping up on my head. My hair is thickening, which is fantastic! I believe I’ve had a hormonal imbalance for a while now that caused my hair to be thinner and was producing some chin whiskers (come on, I know I’m not the only woman on the planet with unwanted facial hair). I’ve never shaved the face – and don’t plan to, but plucking gets old too. I believe the whisker incidents are lessening, but it may still be too early to tell. My leg hair seems to be finer and growing more slowly too…. score!

What I read: Leviticus 22-23

What I ate:

  • Breakfast – 8 oranges juiced
  • AM Snack – 1 banana, 6 oranges juiced (after TKD)
  • Lunch – Green Smoothie (6oz apple juice, 6oz coconut water, 3 bananas, 2oz Kale, 2 oz Spinach, 6 oz strawberries)
  • Afternoon Snack – blueberries, Kale chips
  • Dinner – Collard green wraps with 1/4 avocado, red bell pepper, tomato, sprouts, cucumber, & BBQ mushrooms
  • PM Snack – blueberries & 2 date rolls (pictured yesterday)

What I did: TKD class (1.5 hrs)

Here are the notes I made regarding my symptoms throughout Day 51:

  • slowed digestion (gas, abdominal pain, bloating)
  • headaches
  • puffy hands, feet, and face
  • sinus congestion
  • dry/itchy eyes, skin, and scalp
  • acne
  • aching muscles and muscle spasms
  • foggy brain
  • irritability
  • mood swings
  • blood sugar fluctuations
  • fatigue – still having bouts of fatigue, but not as bad
  • unable to sleep well
  • unquenchable thirst
  • cravings
  • chest pain
  • cold soreslast one 1/13/2013
  • kidney stones – eliminated when we went vegan Oct 2011
  • tooth pain
