365 Raw: Day 34 with “PMS”

Wow, this morning was rough. Thirty-four days in and I’m still having some nights where I don’t sleep that well.

PMSAlright, so, if you’re a dude and the title didn’t make you go “Oh, this post probably isn’t for me,” then I hope this will make it clear. This is going to be about female stuff. Consider yourself warned. Should you continue reading, I am not responsible for anything you might think or feel lol.

So, ladies, I’ve got the bloat happenin’ here. Earlier today I thought, “good gosh, I thought I was losing weight, what the heck is wrong with me now?” And then I remembered what day it is… ah yes, I guess I’m not fully rid of PMS symptoms. I’m not getting fatter, just bloating – yippee skippy. Now, I have noticed that while I seem to feel things more deeply, I’m not having “outbursts” of frustration. I do wish the bloating wouldn’t show up though. I got one zit on my nose (yeah, front and center), but my skin is ridiculously clear considering what week it is. Cravings have mainly been for more fat (nuts and avocado). I decided to give in to that a bit rather than fight it. I figure if I’m craving nuts and avocado (could be chocolate, chips, and french fries) that perhaps I need a bit more fat during this time of the month. Something that is really new for me these past few months (yes, this started before I went raw but after going vegan), “the girls” seem to get tender during PMS. I never had this unless I was pregnant.

My PMS symptoms seem to be less than usual, but there are still enough of them hanging around to be annoying. I’ve read that PMS symptoms can go away completely after some time eating LFRV. I really hope that’s the case for me.

Of course, now that I think about it, this is mild compared to all the junk I had going on at this time last week lol.

What I read: Exodus 13-15


What I ate:

  • Breakfast – Green Smoothie (6oz apple juice, 6oz coconut water, 2 bananas, 2 oz kale, 2oz spinach, 7oz strawberries)
  • AM Snack – 1 banana
  • Lunch – 5 oranges juiced, 2 pears, 1 banana
  • Afternoon Snack – 1 oz raw cashews
  • After-LTS Snack – 5 oranges juiced
  • Dinner – Fruit/Veg Burrito(mango, 1/4 avocado, tomato, orange bell pepper, cucumber, alfalfa sprouts, cilantro, jalepeno wrapped in a collard leaf )… I’ve only eaten half of it so far, but will probably eat the other half during last night’s episode of Downton Abbey (waiting for the kids to finish chores and go to bed).

What I did: TaeKwonDo Class (55 min) + 1 hour in skates teaching preschoolers

Here are the notes I made regarding my symptoms throughout Day 34:

  • slowed digestion (gas, abdominal pain, bloating)
  • headaches
  • puffy hands, feet, and face
  • sinus congestion
  • dry/itchy eyes, skin, and scalp
  • acne
  • aching muscles and muscle spasms
  • foggy brain
  • irritability
  • mood swings
  • blood sugar fluctuations
  • fatigue
  • unable to sleep well
  • unquenchable thirst
  • cravings
  • chest pain
  • cold soreslast one 1/13/2013
  • kidney stones – eliminated when we went vegan Oct 2011
  • tooth pain
