365 Raw: Day 32 with “Grazing”

Day 32 was pretty good. The Husband and I were supposed to do a race today. He still did, and I tagged along for moral support. I was going to do it until I was down for 3 days last week. So, while I waited for him to cross the finish line, I did a run/walk workout (very slow pace) around the park.

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAI’m really cautious about eating too much at one sitting now. I guess I’m associating it to being nauseous. So, I’ve been grazing a lot more. The draw-back is that it feels like I constantly have to eat. In contrast, when I would have all ten oranges at once, I wouldn’t need to eat again for a few hours. Even with all the grazing, I only got in about 2000 calories today… not quite enough… especially with exercise.

Most of the cooked vegans had pizza last night (Papa John’s Veggie, no cheese). I wanted some and for a brief moment thought… “Just a bite wouldn’t hurt”, but then I thought about the 10 year old who chose not to have pizza. We were going to make an exception to let her have a little, but she turned it down. Clearly, she feels the benefits of avoiding grains far outweigh the momentary indulgence. There was no way I was touching pizza after that.

What I read: Exodus 7-9

What I ate:

  • Breakfast – 5 oranges
  • AM Snack – 1 bananas
  • Lunch – Salsa Brava salad
  • Afternoon Snack – 4 oranges juiced, 1 pint of blueberries, 3 dates, 2 bananas
  • Dinner – Green Smoothie (6oz apple juice, 6oz coconut water, 2 bananas, 2 oz kale, 2oz spinach, 7oz strawberries)
  • PM Snack – 1oz raw cashews, 4 oranges juiced

What I did: 38 minute run/walk at a very slow pace.

Here are the notes I made regarding my symptoms throughout Day 32:

  • slowed digestion (gas, abdominal pain, bloating)
  • headaches
  • puffy hands, feet, and face
  • sinus congestion
  • dry/itchy eyes, skin, and scalp
  • acne
  • aching muscles and muscle spasms
  • foggy brain
  • irritability
  • mood swings
  • blood sugar fluctuations
  • fatigue
  • unable to sleep well
  • unquenchable thirst
  • cravings
  • chest pain
  • cold soreslast one 1/13/2013
  • kidney stones – eliminated when we went vegan Oct 2011
