365 Raw: Day 20 with “Smells”

I woke feeling better the morning of Day 20… yes, DAY TWENTY!! The cold sore appears to be in remission already, which is surprising. I am having more detox breath today though lol. I can smell it with my mouth closed, eeekk!

sense-of-smell-1Speaking of smells… ha ha ha, were we speaking of smells? Well, we are now. My sense of smell is so heightened. To quote Monk, “it’s a blessing… and a curse.” It’s a blessing when good smells come into play… but foul smells, oh my goodness, they make me want to gag. Another issue is when I smell foods that once were pleasant to me. They are very aromatic. I know from past experience that the cooked food doesn’t usually taste as good as it smells, but the draw is still there. I won’t eat it because I know I won’t feel well afterward. So, at least common sense is winning for a change.

One thing that is already very noticeable is a decrease in my body odor (not others, but don’t I wish!). It isn’t eradicated entirely yet, but it is almost gone. I see why this way of eating used to be called “natural hygiene”. I can wear workout clothes at least twice and not worry about killing everyone in my path with my stench. Also, eliminations aren’t foul smelling… hmm, perhaps I need to get the rest of my family entirely on raw food lol.

You’ve heard the old adage, “you are what you eat?” Well, you smell like what you eat too… just saying 😉

What I read: Genesis 25-26

What I ate:

  • Breakfast – Ten oranges juiced with electric citrus juicer
  • AM Snack – 3 bananas
  • Lunch – 8 bananas, blended with 8 oz water
  • Afternoon Snack – 2 cuties
  • Dinner – 1 lb romaine, 1 cup grape tomatoes, 1 cup golden tomatoes, with fruity dressing (1 cup grapes, 2 cuties, parsley & cilantro)

What I did: TaeKwonDo Class (55 min) + 1 hour in skates teaching preschoolers how to skate (lots of squatting)

Here are the notes I made regarding my symptoms throughout Day 20:

  • slowed digestion (gas, abdominal pain, bloating)
  • headaches
  • puffy hands, feet, and face
  • sinus congestion
  • dry/itchy eyes, skin, and scalp
  • acne – surprisingly clear for PMS week
  • aching muscles and muscle spasms
  • foggy brain
  • irritability
  • mood swings –
  • blood sugar fluctuations
  • fatigue – very tired today
  • unable to sleep well
  • unquenchable thirst
  • cravings – None today
  • chest pain
  • cold sores – last one 1/13/2013
  • kidney stones – eliminated when we went vegan Oct 2011
