365 Raw: Day 16 with “Water”

Fired up and headed for 20! I woke up the morning of Day 16 ready to go. I slept like a rock last night. I’m not sure I even moved a muscle from the time I fell asleep until about 4:00 this morning. My eyes have been sooo bright today. At first I asked the Husband if my eyes looked bigger to him… he looked at me and said, “Brighter. They look brighter.”

glassofwaterSomething I’ve never been very good at is identifying true physical hunger and true physical thirst. I often got these two confused with one another… or they were messed up by addiction to things that humans weren’t designed to consume. I can definitely tell the difference between physical and emotional hunger now. I can also tell when I’m thirsty… which apparently I had confused with hunger of any kind.

I find that straight tap water tastes terrible to me now. I can smell the chlorine. If I leave a glass of it out on the counter for hours, I can drink it. So, you’ll find a glass in my bedroom and one in the kitchen… both are almost always full. I’ve been thirsty a lot these last 16 days, but it’s not like what I thought physical thirst was… which is how I know I my “sensors” were confused before. My new water habit happens first thing in the morning. I sit up in bed, grab the glass on the night stand… and drink it all.

I don’t drink a whole lot of water a day. I doubt I’m even close to the 8-10 glass thing, but I’m also not cooking all the water out of my food. I’m not drinking caffeine (a diuretic) either (now there’s another addiction story lol). All of the foods that I’m eating, naturally have water in them. I’m drinking water when I feel the need to, so I figure I’m getting enough.

What I read: Genesis 12-15

What I ate:

  • Breakfast – Ten oranges juiced with electric citrus juicer
  • Lunch/Afternoon Meal – 10 Bananas blended with 8oz of water (I had some of this before going to TKD class, and the rest after I got home)
  • Dinner – 1/4 large watermelon, 1 lb romaine lettuce, 1 cup grape tomatoes, 1 cup golden tomatoes, with fruity dressing (1 cup grapes, 2 cuties, parsley, cilantro blended together)

What I did: TaeKwonDo Class (55 min)

Here are the notes I made regarding my symptoms throughout Day 16:

  • slowed digestion (gas, abdominal pain, bloating)
  • headaches
  • puffy hands, feet, and face
  • sinus congestion
  • dry/itchy eyes, skin, and scalp – my hands actually felt soft today
  • acne – surprisingly clear for PMS week
  • aching muscles and muscle spasms
  • foggy brain
  • irritability
  • mood swings – Well, I got frustrated today when I tried to make some grain-free, vegan “burgers”. Totally bombed. The Husband said they tasted good, but they were just a pile of mush. I would probably have to fry them to get them to a “burger” consistency and I’m not about to do that.
  • blood sugar fluctuations
  • fatigue –
  • unable to sleep well
  • unquenchable thirst
  • cravings – nope
  • chest pain
